also according to this if its a gen8 - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03369047&page=GUID-BC9621D3-85D1-489F-A8EE-D2C0A239846E.html
"Either a minimum of 256MB cache and battery kit or a minimum of 512MB BBWC/FBWC is required to enable RAID 5, 50, 6, 60. HP Smart Array Advanced Pack (SAAP 2.0) is no longer required to enable 6 & 60 (Advanced Data Guarding). However, controller must be in firmware version 4.68 (or later)"
Have you updated the firmware yet to see if it helps?

The firmware is up to date (8.32), I'm asking if someone has got a SmartCache license as my RAID controller is a P420i.
Gen9 and above moved to a "SmartCache" license as SAAP was deprecated.
I don't see any public licenses floating around GitHub for this.
D7S26A = Physical License Single Server
D7S27A = Physical License Multi Pack
D7S27AAE = Electronic License Single/Multi
List Price is $300 but 50% off is fairly common, so if you bite the bullet anything close/below $100 is a decent price.
And before anyone asks, the Gen10 and above MR series of controllers do not offer LSI CacheCade which is a similar feature on MegaRAID controllers. Broadcom (owns LSI) decided to get rid of it so HPE never implemented it.
