Filters for uBlock origin that block OAuth requests that leak your private information to big techs

Custom filters to block OAuth third party tracking requests

Important: I don't use OAuth login with Google, Meta, Microsoft etc anywhere. If you do, don't use this.

How to use

  1. Go to uBlock Origin settings
  2. Go to "My filters"
  3. Select "Enable my custom filters"
  4. Paste the contents of ublock-origin-filters.txt on the big text area at the bottom of the page and apply changes

async-payments user story: donation QR code

The async-payment user story I'm interested in exploring is a mobile user (not always connected) who wants to receive donations (no PoP) via a static invoice from another mobile user.

My understanding of how this could work:

  1. The static invoice should contain a blinded route to the payment receiver via their LSP and an ephemeral public key that the payment sender will use to encrypt the last hop of a payment onion containing a keysend TLV. The LSP of the payment receiver must support store-and-forward of onion messages.

  2. A payment sender builds a payment onion where the first hop is their LSP that supports trampoline payments, onion messages and async-payments. The first hop of the onion includes a TLV to indicate the payment should be held until triggered (with a async-payment nonce) and gives the blinded route to the payment receiver. The last hop of the onion is encrypted to the payment receiver's ephemeral public key and includes:

  • the keysend TLV payment secret
  • the amount being sent

// HOW TO
// 1) Make a Google Sheet, we'll pull the first cell e.g. A1
// 2) Publish your Google Sheet, File -> Publish To Web
// 3) Copy the SHEET_ID in the URL, put it in here below:
const endpoint = "https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/SHEET_ID/1/public/full?alt=json"
// 4) Install Scriptable @ https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scriptable/id1405459188
// 5) Copy this entire script in to Scriptable (tip: you can send it to your iPhone via Whatsapp/Messenger/Telegram etc)

Design for a CoinSwap Implementation for Massively Improving Bitcoin Privacy and Fungibility

Design for a CoinSwap Implementation for Massively Improving Bitcoin Privacy and Fungibility

25/5/2020

Abstract

Imagine a future where a user Alice has bitcoins and wants to send them with maximal privacy, so she creates a special kind of transaction. For anyone looking at the blockchain her transaction appears completely normal with her coins seemingly going from address A to address B. But in reality her coins end up in address Z which is entirely unconnected to either A or B.

Now imagine another user, Carol, who isn't too bothered by privacy and sends her bitcoin using a regular wallet which exists today. But because Carol's transaction looks exactly the same as Alice's, anybody analyzing the blockchain must now deal with the possibility that Carol's transaction actually sent her coins to a totally unconnected address. So Carol's privacy is improved even though she didn't change her behaviour, and perhaps had never even heard of this software.

experiment: mimicking React's new "useState()" hook for stand-alone functions, including "custom hooks"
"use strict";
[foo,bar] = TNG(foo,bar);
// NOTE: intentionally not TNG(..) wrapping useBaz(), so that it's
// basically like a "custom hook" that can be called only from other
// TNG-wrapped functions
function foo(origX,origY) {
var [x,setX] = useState(origX);
var [y,setY] = useState(origY);

Storing the UTXO as a bit-vector

Half-baked thoughts exploring a different way of implementing a fully-validating BCH node.

The idea is to shift the storage of full transaction data to wallets, and explore how little data a fully validating node could store. This isn't a problem today (the UTXO set easily fits in the RAM of an inexpensive server-class machine), but might eventually be at very large transaction volumes.

Initial block download is a problem today (it is annoying to have to wait several hours or days to sync up a new node), and this scheme could make it orders of magnitude faster by shifting the time when full transaction data is broadcast from initial block download to new transaction announcement.
