Enabling IE Mode in Microsoft edge to allow Silverlight apps to run

MS Edge has a fallback called "Internet Explorer Mode" which will allow Silverlight to run.

To enable Internet Explorer Mode in Edge:

1. Ensure you have Silverlight installed. You can download it here:

   • Silverlight_x64.exe for Windows.
   • Silverlight.dmg for Mac OS.

2. Open Edge. Click the ... button top right, then Settings in the menu.

   

3. In the settings tab that opens, click "Default browser in the menu at left (don't worry, we're not going to actually make Edge your default browser).

4. In the "Default browser" settings, under Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode, set it to Enabled.

   

5. Now visit a Silverlight site, such as http://connectuat.sportingsolutions.com/

6. It will fail to load Silverlight - but now you can go back to the ... menu (top tight) and click Reload in Internet Explorer mode.

Unfortunately, they removed that option (at least on the macOS).
