1.) Download a Nerd Font
2.) Unzip and copy to ~/.fonts
3.) Run the command fc-cache -fv to manually rebuild the font cache

Don't bother with any of these crazy scripts. Instructions in original post is all you need.

mkdir -p ~/.local/share/fonts
cd /tmp
wget https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts/releases/latest/download/FiraCode.zip
unzip FiraCode.zip -d ~/.local/share/fonts
fc-cache -fv
