Ouafae's Role

Primary responsibilities

  1. Customer support — Crisp + Discord, respond to users, escalate bugs
  2. User research — understand why people buy, why they churn, what they need
  3. Onboarding UX — define personas, map user journeys, suggest improvements
  4. Community — Discord engagement, identify power users, collect feedback

How to query support tools

Crisp (live chat):

  • Dashboard: app.crisp.chat
  • Check unresolved conversations daily
  • Tag conversations: bug, feature-request, billing, onboarding
  • Escalate to Louis: anything $400+ customer, anything blocking multiple users

Intercom (if used):

  • Similar flow — check inbox, respond, tag, escalate

Discord:

  • Monitor #support and #general channels
  • Common questions: "is it free?", "how do I install?", "does it work on [OS]?"
  • Point to docs, be helpful, escalate technical issues

Escalation rules

  • Respond within 4 hours during business hours
  • $400+ customers → ping Louis immediately
  • Bug affecting multiple users → create GitHub issue
  • Feature requests → log in Notion (this doc), share weekly

User Personas (to define together)

Persona 1: Tech geek

  • Finds screenpipe on GitHub or Hacker News
  • Knows how to build from source
  • Wants customization, pipes, API access
  • May never pay — but spreads word of mouth
  • Journey: GitHub → README → build → use → maybe buy for convenience

Persona 2: Knowledge worker (main buyer)

  • Finds screenpipe from AI chatbot recommendation, Reddit, or YouTube
  • Not very technical, wants it to "just work"
  • Use case: "I forgot what I saw on my screen last week"
  • Willing to pay $400 if it solves their problem
  • Journey: Website → pricing → "$400??" → sees 30-day guarantee → buys → onboarding → searches → stays or churns

Persona 3: Team/enterprise buyer

  • IT admin or team lead
  • Wants to deploy to 4-50 employees
  • Use case: meeting transcription, sales call logging, knowledge capture
  • Budget: $800/seat/year+
  • Journey: Website → "teams" → contact → demo → pilot → deploy via MDM (Intune)

Persona 4: Student

  • Finds on social media or university
  • Can't afford $400
  • Student discount: 50% off with .edu email verification
  • Journey: Website → "student?" link → verify email → get discount code → buy

Workshop TODO: Walk through each persona's journey on the website. What's confusing? What's missing? Where do they drop off?

Common Support Answers

"Is it free?"

Screenpipe is open source — you can build it yourself for free from GitHub. The paid version ($400) gives you a pre-built app with automatic updates, code signing, and priority support. 30-day money-back guarantee.

"Does it work on [OS]?"

macOS (M-series + Intel) and Windows. Linux works but is community-supported ($200 supporter license).

"Is my data private?"

Everything runs locally on your computer. Your screen and audio data never leaves your machine unless you opt into Pro cloud features (which are end-to-end encrypted).

"I can't get it to work"

  1. Check screen recording permissions (System Settings → Privacy → Screen Recording)
  2. Check audio permissions
  3. Restart screenpipe
  4. If still broken → ask for screenshot of error → escalate to Louis

"I want a refund"

30-day money-back guarantee. Process through Stripe dashboard or escalate to Louis.

Weekly Sync Format

Every week:

  1. Support stats — how many conversations, common issues, unresolved count
  2. User feedback themes — what are people asking for?
  3. Churn signals — who's unhappy? who might leave?
  4. Ideas — what should we build/change based on what you're hearing?

Action Items (running list)

  • Make 30-day guarantee more prominent on pricing page
  • Clarify open source vs paid on website
  • Personas workshop (define journeys for each persona)
  • Create onboarding email sequence (post-purchase: here's how to get started)
  • Explore Salesforce/HubSpot integration pitch for B2B
  • Plan mini hackathon at 42 (4 hours, ~40 people)
  • Set up affiliate/referral program for community members
