TabStash — Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 14, 2026 Last Updated: March 26, 2026

Summary

TabStash does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All data is stored locally on your device and never leaves your browser.

1. Data Collection

TabStash does not collect any personal information, analytics, telemetry, or usage data. The extension does not communicate with any external servers, APIs, or third-party services.

2. Data Storage

All data created and managed by TabStash — including saved tabs, groups, folders, archive, trash, settings, and preferences — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using the chrome.storage.local API.

This data:

  • Resides entirely on your device
  • Is not transmitted to any remote server
  • Is not accessible to the developer or any third party
  • Is subject to your browser's own data management policies (e.g., clearing browser data will remove TabStash data)

3. Permissions

TabStash requests the following browser permissions:

Permission Purpose
tabs Read open tab URLs and titles to stash them
storage Store and retrieve your saved tabs and settings locally
unlimitedStorage Allow storage beyond the default 10MB limit for heavy users
activeTab Access the currently active tab when stashing
favicon Display website icons next to saved tabs
contextMenus Add right-click menu options for quick stashing

No permission is used to collect, monitor, or transmit browsing activity.

4. Third-Party Services

TabStash does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party service, advertising network, or analytics platform.

5. Backup & Restore

TabStash provides a manual JSON backup and restore feature. This export is initiated entirely by the user, produces a local file, and does not involve any network transmission. The user has full control over where the backup file is saved and shared.

6. Children's Privacy

TabStash does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
