The doctrine of Creation Ex Nihilo—the belief that a separate God built the universe out of "nothing"—is a logical impossibility. Whether viewed through the lens of science or metaphysics, the wall between the Creator and the Created must fall.
The doctrine of Atheism says that the universe was made by nothing. This is also impossible as we will see later.
Creation requires both:
- A Creator, and
- Raw Material
The following is a systematic refutation of "nothingness" and a manifesto for the only logical alternative: Non-Dualism.
Dualism argues that the universe was created out of nothing. This creates a "redundancy" trap:
- The Logic: If the universe can be made of nothing, then it also follows that the universe can be made by nothing. If nothing can transform into something, then the universe is self-causing and self-existent, without the need for a creator or raw material.
- The Science: In contemporary terms, what we observe is Infinite Potential Energy. The Universe is like a cloud of energy manifesting as fire, lightning, wind, rain, stars, planets, plants, animals, and people. The Universe exists because The Energy is those things. If the energy can manifest itself, a separate creator becomes unnecessary.
If we reject the idea that something can come from nothing, then the universe must be made of "something."
- The Source: Before creation, there was no raw material. There is no "outside" space to find materials to make a universe separate from the Divine Source.
- The Conclusion: The universe is not a "product" made by a craftsman; it is an Incarnation of God. Every atom is a manifestation of the Divine Essence. God did not make the universe; God became the universe.
Why is there suffering?
- The Individual Perspective: In our ordinary experience, "suffering" is the friction of energy changing form. A star must die to create the elements for life. To the star, it is destruction; to the life that follows, it is creation. On this level, suffering is felt because we see the parts rather than the whole.
- The Ultimate Perspective: From the perspective of the Infinite, there is no "other" to be harmed or to do harm. If God is the Only thing that exists, then God is the Only one who ever acts or suffers. Like waves crashing into one another, it is simply The Ocean churning.
What stops us from doing evil?
- The Individual Perspective: If we truly perceived everything as One, harming another would be as illogical as harming ourselves. We must do good because selfless actions thin the ego, creating the mental clarity needed to actually experience Unity with the Absolute.
- The Ultimate Perspective: The doer is the experiencer of the consequence. There is no one else for The Absolute to be good or evil towards.
If we are all "God-stuff," do we have a choice?
- The Individual Perspective: There are the cards you’ve been dealt - like your body, parents, initial environment. One might call this "predestination". But how you play the cards is free will. Humans are not born with wings, but that did not stop us from flying. We can use our intellect to guide our actions.
- The Ultimate Perspective: Consider a video game. In the game, a character seems to move and choose freely. However, the character, the scenery, the code, the electricity powering the console, and even the human player controlling the character - are all essentially one thing in this system. You are not a robot following laws; you are the Infinite itself in motion. You don't have freedom from God; you have freedom as God. When "you" choose, it is actually the Only Reality expressing its inherent freedom.
The transition from Dualism to Non-Dualism is simple:
| Concept | Dualism | Non-Dualism |
|---|---|---|
| Relationship | God and the Universe (Separate) | God becomes the Universe (One) |
| Identity | God is One (A single being) | God is Only (The only reality) |
| Process | Creation (Construction) | Manifestation (Emanation) |
- God is not a builder who stands apart from a house He made.
- God is The Energy that is the house, the builder, the wood, the inhabitant, and the witness.
- "Nothing" does not exist, "nothing" has never existed, and "nothing" will never exist.
- There is Only the Infinite Potential Energy, the Devine Essence, forever shifting, forever alive.
- Atheists who argue against God are arguing against the Infinite Potential Energy that makes the universe.
