Samsung Galaxy Book5 360 on Fedora Linux (NP750QHA-KA4UK)

SAMSUNG Galaxy Book5 360 15.6" 2 in 1 Laptop, Copilot+ PC, NP750QHA-KA4UK

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 5 226V
  • GPU: Integrated Intel Arc 130V
  • RAM: 16GB LPDDR5x
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  • OS: Fedora 42
  • Kernel: Linux 6.15.10-200.fc42.x86_64

Working out of the box:

  • Display works with HDR, brightness control (not automatic), touchscreen
  • Keyboard with software backlight controls (but backlight fn button doesn't work)
  • Touchpad with multitouch gestures
  • S Pen stylus with pressure sensitivity
  • Everything else not mentioned

Half working:

  • Camera:
    • Works fine in the browser, but;
    • In the Camera app, the preview is broken and has grey stripes, but the actual pictures/videos are fine once taken.
  • Sound including with the built-in speakers and microphone
    • Occasionally the speakers cut out and require restarting the laptop

Not working:

  • Fingerprint: Doesn't show up in Gnome, experimental packages may be available but I haven't tried
  • Automatic brightness: Option doesn't show up in Gnome
  • Auto rotation
  • Keyboard and trackpad don't turn off when the screen is rotated 360 degrees

Untested:

  • Thunderbolt, probably works

I haven't done much/any tinkering but if you're interested, I hear https://github.com/joshuagrisham/galaxy-book2-pro-linux is a good read.
