What's the use of the staging area in git? on Stackoverflow (10 min)
The idea of the staging area is frequently one of the trickiest concepts to wrap your head around when you're first learning git. Read the question and answers (or do your own Googling on the git staging area). Then, create your own metaphor comparing the staging area to something in real life.
- Type your metaphor below:
- The staging area gives you flexibility about what you're going to commit. You can choose to work through your adds, working on a few files and adding them when they are ready and then committing them all in one go. A metaphor related to an experience I had recently would be preparing to move. I prepared the things I wanted to move, laid it all out in my room and chose what to put in boxes and what to set aside to throw out or donate. The boxes act as the staging area. Once an item has been stored in the box, it is staged with the commit being putting the boxes in my truck and actually moving them to the new place. Like staging, I can icrementally add what I want to bring and decide what items are not necessary and leave them.

@VPAbraham Overall, great work on this.
Also, as far as slack shortcuts go, the one I use most is cmd + t - it allows you to find channels or dms very quickly. Would definitely recommend giving it a try!
