This is a list of the most commonly used and relevant vtubing software. The "best" will always be subjective and depend on your specific requirements. Overall, the information in this list is as accurate as I could figure it out, but there might be errors or some details might become out of date. If you find anything that needs to be corrected, please let me know. You can also note it in a comment.

Additional explanations:

• iPhone means that an iPhone is basically required
• iFacialMocap support means that tracking data can be received from the iFacialMocap iPhone app
• VMC protocol means that the application can send and/or receive tracking data from other VMC protocol capable applications, allowing the combination of multiple tracking methods (e.g. VSeeFace receiving VR tracking from Virtual Motion Capture and iPhone/ARKit face tracking from Waidayo)
• Tobii means that the Tobii eye tracker is supported

Instructions

The first file is the script to be run, which you can store in your home directory. The second file is the systemd unit file which goes in /etc/systemd/system. Make sure on line 6 it references the location of the first file, and that you run systemctl daemon-reload after editing the unit file.

To run the service automatically on boot, run sudo systemctl enable avahi-alias@[domain], followed by sudo systemctl start avahi-alias@[domain] to start it immediately.

A few notes I took to see if I could use MacOS as Hypevirsor in a similar fashion to Linux
I wanted to see how few addons were needed instead of using Parallels, Virtual Box, VM Fsion etc.
The idea is to use QEMU, Hypervisor Framework (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/hypervisor) and some custom host networking.

Docker(-compose) with shorewall

The shorewall documentation explains in http://shorewall.org/Docker.html how to configure shorewall for use with docker. The problem with the configuration is that it only allows connections from the host to the main bridge docker0. Connections to other networks on dynamically created bridges, with names starting by default with br-, is blocked. Instead of the recommended contents of /etc/shorewall/interfaces, use wild-card interface names as follows:

How to set up user authentication for a Chrome Extension using the Chrome Identity API

1. Create a private key file, from which you can create the manifest key and Application ID, as detailed here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/23873623/obtaining-chrome-extension-id-for-development
2. Add the manifest key to "key" in manifest.json
3. Create a new project in Google Developer Console https://console.developers.google.com/project
4. Go to "APIs & auth > Credentials" and create new client id for a Chrome Application using the Application ID generated in step 3.
5. Copy the Client ID to oauth2.client_id in the manifest.json
