MPC-HC: HDR videos on SDR displays

With the default settings, HDR videos may have washed-out colors on SDR displays. The following settings can be used to fix this.

  • Press O to open the settings, and navigate to Playback -> Output in the sidebar.
  • At the very top, choose MPC Video Renderer
  • Click the Settings button in the top right to open the renderer's settings
  • Make sure that the Convert to SDR checkbox is enabled
  • To improve performance, disable the Use Direct3D 11 checkbox.
  • Apply the settings, and restart MPC-HC
