Honkai: Star Rail : Manual Install & Update Guide

For PC/Windows and Global version of Honkai: Star Rail (HSR).

Prerequisite

1. File archiver with multi-part 7z support e.g. 7-Zip.
2. Web browser with JSON support e.g. Mozilla Firefox.

Open HoyoPlay game packages API link for HSR Global with JSON-supported web browser.

[Pre-download]

Change main in JSON path to pre_download e.g.

data > game_packages > 0 > pre_download > major > game_pkgs

data > game_packages > 0 > pre_download > major > audio_pkgs

data > game_packages > 0 > pre_download > patches > 0 > game_pkgs

data > game_packages > 0 > pre_download > patches > 0 > audio_pkgs

[Installing from scratch]

Game Files

Go to: data > game_packages > 0 > main > major > game_pkgs

Download all files.

Voice Over Files

Go to: data > game_packages > 0 > main > major > audio_pkgs

Download wanted language(s) only.

[Updating the game]

Note: You can only update from one version before current / next (for pre-download).

Game Files

Go to: data > game_packages > 0 > main > patches > 0 > game_pkgs

Download all files.

Voice Over Files

Go to: data > game_packages > 0 > main > patches > 0 > audio_pkgs

Download wanted language(s) only.

After Download

Initial Setup

1. Open HoyoPlay > Select Honkai: Star Rail > Start Download.

2. Wait for download to start > Pause Download > Exit HoyoPlay.

3. Go inside the game's installation folder and delete files ending with _tmp (leave config.ini alone).

Installation

1. Open the downloaded archive file ending with 7z.001 with file archiver.

2. Extract all files inside the archive into the game's installation folder (where config.ini is).

3. Open the downloaded archive file containing voice over files e.g. English.7z with the file archiver.

4. Repeat step (2).

5. Go inside the game's installtion folder > Open config.ini.

6. Go under [general] section > add game_version=X.X.X; X.X.X is current live version e.g. 2.5.0.

7. Example of edited config.ini:

Note: [pc_id] is your PC ID which was set by HoyoPlay.

8. Save the edited config.ini.

9. Open HoyoPlay > Hover on the button at the right side of Start Game button (with 3 stacked -) > Add Desktop Shortcut.

10. Start Game > Log in > Don't click at empty spaces to start the game yet > Click Settings > Language > Language Settings > Voice > Select the voice over language that was installed before > Close Settings.

11. Start the game and download the updates.

Update From Previous Version

1. Copy / move the downloaded archives into the game's installation folder (where StarRail.exe and config.ini are).

2. Open HoyoPlay and Restore Download.
